Heavy rainfall and humid conditions have been experienced across Australian grapegrowing regions in recent days. Such conditions greatly increase the risk of Botrytis and other bunch rots. Areas where grapes have already reached veraison (mostly in NSW regions) are at greatest risk.
This fact sheet provides an excellent overview of the options for managing Botrytis in the lead up to harvest. Key considerations include:

- Considering spray options in terms of both possible coverage and resistance management
- Canopy management to reduce humidity in the fruit zone

Webinar and Q&A session – Friday 16 January, 2.30pm SA time
To assist growers with concerns about Botrytis and other bunch rots, the AWRI is hosting a webinar and Q&A session on Friday 16 January at 2.30pm SA time. The webinar, presented by Mardi Longbottom, Senior Viticulturist, AWRI and Liz Riley, Viticultural Consultant, Hunter Valley, will provide an overview of Botrytis status across the major NSW regions, an outline of the available control options and discussion of critical issues in the Botrytis control decision-making process. A short presentation will be followed by an open question and answer session joined by Marcel Essling, Senior Viticulturist, AWRI; Matt Holdstock, Senior Oenologist, AWRI; Kristy Bartrop, Riverina Winegrapes Marketing Board; and Paul Baguley, Viticultural Consultant, PBAg Consulting, Mudgee.
