Affinity Labs (the commercial arm of The Australian Wine Research Institute) provides advanced analytical and consulting services to the food and beverage industry. We offer a comprehensive range of testing services, including chemical and microbiological analysis, plant health diagnostics, sensory assessment and export certification services for a wide range of global markets. Our NATA-accredited (ISO17025 and GLP) laboratories, based in Urrbrae SA, perform more than 100,000 analyses per year.
Affinity Labs is seeking applications for a full-time Laboratory Technician within the Trace Analysis team. The laboratory performs a large range of analyses using various chromatographic techniques and analytical capabilities. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparation of samples and routine chemical analysis of wine, grape and other food and beverage products using a range of analytical techniques. The Laboratory Technician will need to work well within a busy team environment and commence as soon as possible.
Experience in gas chromatography (GC-MS, GC/MS/MS) and liquid chromatography (HPLC, LC/MS/MS) is highly desirable. Affinity Labs is NATA ISO17025 accredited in the field of chemical testing and the Trace Laboratory is GLP recognised. Knowledge in these areas is preferred but not essential.
The role is suitable for a graduate (preferably with honours) or a laboratory technician with one to two years’ laboratory experience. The ideal candidate will have a laboratory background in a commercial environment. Candidates should outline their experience with the relevant equipment and any experience within an accredited laboratory environment in their application.
