DATE: Date of spray (for states other than NSW it is the time that spraying ended).
BLOCK: Record the block name(s) and the order in which they were sprayed.
GROWTH STAGE: Growth stage of sprayed vines. Refer to the growth stage chart from Coombe, B (1995) Grapevine growth stages the modified E-L system. Aust. J. Grape. Wine. Res. (1) pp 100-110, available here.
TARGET PEST, DISEASE OR WEED: This section must be completed.
FULL REGISTERED PRODUCT NAME(S): Record the full registered agrochemical product name from the label. Abbreviations are not acceptable. e.g. Thiovit Jet not Thiovit or Sulphur. Refer to the AWRI publication Agrochemicals registered for use in Australian viticulture.
WINERY RESTRICTION ON USE: The winery restriction overrides the label restriction on any product. These may contain the recommended restrictions on use listed in Agrochemicals registered for use in Australian viticulture. However, always check with your winery or grape purchaser as they may have different and/or additional restrictions on use.
CHOSEN LABEL RATE OF REGISTRERED PRODUCT USED PER 100L (g, kg, ml or L):
Chosen label rate is the amount of registered product you have used per 100L that complies with the label rate. This column needs to be completed for fungicide or insecticide sprays. Note: this is not required for herbicide sprays as the rates are always given on a per sprayed hectare basis.
CF: is the Concentration Factor used for concentrate spraying. You can download an example of how to calculate the concentration here.
AMOUNT OF WATER SPRAYED (L/ha or L/100m): is the actual amount of water or spray mixture applied to the canopy or ground expressed as litres per hectare or per 100m as required. The amount of water sprayed is often referred to as spray volume. State the actual chosen rate used NOT a range that appears on some labels.
Note: For conversion of L/ha to L/100m, download a table from here.
AMOUNT OF REGISTERED PRODUCT USED (g, kg, ml, L): is the total amount of registered agrochemical used expressed as product per hectare or product per 100m as required.
To calculate the amount of registered product used per hectare or per 100m use the formula(s) below:
Product/ha = Chosen label rate of registered product per 100L x CF x actual amount of water sprayed per ha ÷ 100:
Product/100m = Chosen label rate of registered product per 100L x CF x actual amount of water sprayed per 100m ÷ 100:
Fungicide and Insecticide example:
Actual spraying volume = 500L/ha
Concentration factor (CF) = 3
Chosen Kumulus DF label rate = 350g/100L
Product/ha = Chosen label rate per 100L x CF x Actual spraying volume (L/ha) ÷ 100
= 350 x 3 x 500 ÷ 100
= 5.25 kg/ha
Actual spraying volume = 15L/100m
Concentration factor (CF) = 3
Chosen Kumulus DF label rate = 350g/100L
Product/100m = Chosen label rate per 100L x CF x Actual spraying volume (L/100m) ÷ 100
= 350 x 3 x 15 ÷ 100
= 157.5 g/100m
Herbicide example expressed per ha:
Actual spraying volume = 500 L/ha
Concentration factor (CF) always = 1
Chosen Basta label rate = 3L/ha
Product/ha = 3L
