The purpose of this section of the website is to provide winemakers and quality control personnel with a laboratory guide for the examination and identification deposits and hazes found in wine.
If you wish to find information on a certain category of haze or deposit (eg crystalline, amorphous etc), you can go to that section directly by clicking on one of the links on the left.
If you have an unidentified deposit or haze present in your wine, you can go through the steps required for its identification by following our Trouble-shooting Flow Chart or watch this haze identification video. Alternatively, if you have already reached the stage of looking at your deposit under a microscope, you can go to our Picture Gallery to see if your deposit matches any of our photographs.
Within the section dealing with each type of deposit, you will find links to more detailed technical information. This will take you beyond the simple steps required to identify a deposit, to explain reasons for the deposit’s formation and ways to prevent its occurrence in the future.
We are keen to hear your feedback about this solutions section of the website – if you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please feel free to contact us!
